Haiti – Strengthening Food Security Through Poultry

Haiti / Partnership, Capacity Building

The World Poultry Foundation partnered with Love A Child to strengthen food security in Haiti by supporting poultry housing, training, and small-scale production that provided both nutrition and education for local communities.

Supporting Local Food Security in Haiti

Haiti has long faced challenges in food security and rural economic development, with many families lacking the resources and skills to engage effectively in poultry farming.

The World Poultry Foundation (WPF) partnered once with Love A Child to strengthen their marketplace initiative, contributing to the construction of poultry houses and the establishment of a training school to equip villagers with essential poultry production and marketing skills. Following the 2010 earthquake, WPF also supported efforts to supply poultry products, helping address urgent nutrition needs and training to young people who lived in the Love A Child orphanage.

At Love A Child Village, these efforts enabled the growth of a small chicken farm that produced protein-rich meat and eggs for the orphanage and surrounding communities, while also creating educational opportunities for children to learn hands-on responsibility and the importance of nutrition.
