At the World Poultry Foundation, we envision a world with efficient, self-sustaining poultry value chains, where farmers have access to the resources, knowledge, and support needed for their poultry enterprises to thrive. Together, these efforts lead to improved livelihoods and a brighter future for farming communities.
Formerly known as the USAPEEC International Poultry Development Program (UIPDP), the World Poultry Foundation promotes economic development in distressed areas and emerging markets outside of the United States. We do this by helping to establish the production, availability, and ultimately consumption of poultry—a low-cost, highly efficient and nutritious protein.
This mission is accomplished by providing technical, educational, and any other assistance needed to foster the development of the local poultry and egg industries.
We bring a complete understanding of the poultry industry to the table. Our team provides access to experts across every discipline involved in poultry production, including:
UIPDP was created in 1997 in response to an opportunity to assist the fledgling Russian poultry industry. Funds from the U.S. government and poultry industry were leveraged to form a joint venture partnership with a Russian broiler production facility. Elinar Broiler was created out of this partnership.
After the sale of UIPDP’s shares back to Elinar in 2006, it was agreed that proceeds would be used for charitable purposes outside the United States, to assist other poultry industries around the world.
In 2015, following strategic review, UIPDP was re-named to the World Poultry Foundation (WPF) and restructured to reflect a broader mission for its work, yet focusing on the economic development of emerging markets through direct involvement with local industries and farmers.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, which oversees the vision and mission of the organization in identifying and funding projects that advances its philanthropic purposes.
The World Poultry Foundation is led by CEO Randall Ennis, who brings more than 30 years of experience in poultry production and management, including extensive international experience. The WPF also engages consultants around the world who help implement its programs and advance its mission.
We can assist poultry producers, because we understand their needs. The World Poultry Foundation strengthens poultry operations across the globe by drawing on the knowledge and expertise of professionals from every area of the industry. With decades of combined experience, we provide a comprehensive understanding of the poultry value chain and are committed to realizing its full growth potential.
