Stone Mountain, Georgia. — The World Poultry Foundation (WPF) has signed a second agreement with the KwaZulu-Natal Poultry Institute (KZNPI) in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. This agreement renews initiatives to conduct training programs for smallholder poultry growers and extension agents throughout the region. The agreement’s primary goal is to train one hundred and sixty individuals in the 2018 calendar year.
The KwaZulu-Natal Poultry Institute is a non-profit organization, founded in 1992 to meet practical needs for local poultry industry producers through improved communication and training efforts.
In this program, sponsored by the WPF, students will spend one week at KZNPI covering industry-related topics ranging from poultry production, biosecurity practices to protect their flocks, brooding, and even disease identification. Both classroom lectures and opportunities for hands-on practical experience will be provided through the training programs.
This is the second year in which the WPF has supported the training of small and disadvantaged poultry and egg producers in South Africa, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the 2017 programs. To learn more about the KwaZulu-Natal Poultry Institute, visit www.kznpi.co.za.
