The World Poultry Foundation (WPF) is seeking a motivated and organized individual to support a diverse range of operational and administrative needs.

Location: Huntsville, Alabama or Atlanta, Georgia area (Preferred). Successful candidate should be located within a 4-hour driving distance to Atlanta.
Consultancy Type: part-time (up to 20 hours per week) for 1 year, with potential for renewal
Anticipated Start: February 2024
Renumeration: $22.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Flexible hours, Monday to Friday

About the World Poultry Foundation
The WPF is a U.S. based non-profit organization that creates access to poultry inputs for rural households with a focus on women and youth. We work through private companies to develop small poultry enterprises that generate income and provide protein for rural households. We also build capacity through educational programs and training workshops for farmers across the globe with an emphasis on technical training, nutrition, and gender programs for women. Our mission is to be a catalyst for improving lives globally through the sustainable production of poultry while empowering farmers in developing regions.

Position Overview
The World Poultry Foundation (WPF), a nonprofit organization, is searching for a part time (up to 20 hours week) Operational Assistant who will support a diverse range of operational and administrative needs. The position works independently and remotely (home office), with limited supervision, directly reporting to the CEO. This position calls for a highly organized and service-minded individual, working internally with management.

Responsibilities

  • Below is a list of core responsibilities anticipated for this position: Development of content and posting for social media presence, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and any other social media outlets that may be appropriate for World Poultry Foundation content. Management of the WPF website, general inquiry email account, and relevant social media platforms for posts and requests and coordinating responses with the WPF team. Event planning and logistics for various WPF activities, including:
    • The candidate will organize three WPF board meetings annually, typically in held in the Atlanta area
    • The candidate will be responsible for scheduling board meetings in various locations to include meeting room reservations, hotel reservations for the board and other entity personnel, and arrangements of meals for board events.
    • The candidate will coordinate international meetings in various countries to include meeting venues and assure all audio and visual equipment required for the meetings are arranged.
  • Assist with travel reservations, including air travel, in-country transportation, hotels, visa applications for WPF personnel, and researching international travel requirements (required documentation).
  • Maintain and update all WPF staff calendars and travel schedules as required as well as assist in coordinating regular meetings and calls.
  • Organize teleconference and virtual meetings for WPF meetings and calls (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams)
  • Create spreadsheets, MS Word documents and reports based on company records to make information more accessible for their colleagues.
  • Assist the CFO in review and processing of WPF team monthly expense reports.
  • Communication and notices to Board members.
  • Communication with WPF subgrantees as directed.
  • Any other administrative support needs as identified by the Board or WPF Executive Staff.
  • Be an active participant in WPF operational and strategic planning.

Job highlights
The WPF offers a relaxed atmosphere with the ability to work remotely from home with flexible hours. The successful candidate will assist in development and implementation of strategies to reach entity objectives as well as lead office activities and operations to secure efficiency and compliance with entity policies. Through this position, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions to improve the way the WPF works. Most work can be completed remotely although some in-person meetings with management staff and board members will be required.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Two or more years of experience in an office setting
  • Experience in social media content creation and account management
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated with efficient problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of organizing remote video meetings (Zoom, Team, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates both professionalism and strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with international travel coordination a plus
  • Willingness to learn about international development and poultry production.
  • Ability to communicate effectively even in cross-cultural settings.

Education

  • Associates Degree or equivalent (Preferred)

Desired Experience

  • Microsoft Office: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Social Media Content Creation: 1 year (Preferred)

Travel
Attendance of three board meetings annually in the Atlanta area (two nights for each meeting) held in January, May, and October. Attendance at WPF team events (max of 1x per year).

Expenses & Equipment
The WPF will reimburse all expenses needed to perform duties, including travel and office expenses. The WPF will also provide a computer or other necessary equipment to the successful candidate for completion of work-related tasks.
